Title of the Piece: Can we keep it together II

Date Created: Jan 10 2022

Medium: Relief Sculpture

Dimensions: 30 cm (diameter) x 2 cm (thickness) Weight: .7 kg

Project Description: We have come this far as a species; we have met every challenge that has been thrown at us. We need to attack Climate Change with just as much courage as before to win this battle and make this world a better place. The question is,’ What are we going to do about this issue?’ That said, what am I going to do? To us in DW Studio, it means being responsible and using no plastic in the studio, Recycling, Reduce and Reuse. This artwork is made from discarded hardwood floor blanks that were destined to be burnt in a fire pit. The stain is from the Habitat for Humanity Restore; the wax finish is beeswax from a local New Brunswick beekeeper. If we all do our part, this could be so much easier on all of us. Title of the Piece: Squirrel House

Date Created: Jan 10 2022

Medium: Standup Wood Sculpture, comes with a base Dimensions: 1.88 m x 17 cm (comes with a stand) Weight: 15 kg

Description : Have you ever wondered where squirrels live? This carved cedar plays with the idea the squirrel lives in an old man's beard. This story goes, an old wizard fell asleep one fall morning and awoke six months later with a large gray squirrel living in his beard. What the old wizard did not know was the squirrel was a very powerful wizard himself and had shape shifted into a gray squirrel so he could hide in the wizard’s beard over the winter to avoid persecution from the local wizard guild. It would turn out the beard he picked belonged to the grand wizard and was, in fact, the wizard that signed the order to track him down. It is better to hide in plain sight than to run like a chicken! There is more to this story, but just not enough paper to tell the whole story. Chimo! Artist Location: Oromocto

Title of the Piece: Wine Lovers Side Table

Date Created: Jan 10 2022

Medium: Hardwood Furniture Sculpture with USB Charger

Dimensions:55 cm tall , table top 53 cm x 61cm Weight: 4 kg

Description : Go green, use wood and recycle; if these are the two benchmarks to meet when going green, this solid oak coffee side table meets that requirement. This table was first made between 1980 and 1990 out of solid oak. I picked it up last year as it was on its way to the landfill. After taking it apart and sanding it all down, I carve our wine lovers’ designs into the tabletop and legs. I followed that by adding some Pyrography art and a little paint, followed by epoxy. Finishing with four coats of beeswax to make that smooth tabletop finish. To add to that, I added a little technology under the table; a five-port USB charger for your phone and tablets, which can be charged by a solar panel. Artist Location: Oromocto
